Time Management - LESSON - 5

This Lesson is about your personal time.

In the previous Lesson, you saw that personal time is fragmented. However, when you add up, it gives you  about 8 hours.

It is this Time  that you use for career advancement to increase your income.

It is this Time  that you use for extra business hours to increase your profits.

It is this Time  that you use to enjoy with your family and friends.

It is this Time  that you use for entertainment.

It is this Time  that you use for learning – whether it is car driving, swimming or a foreign language.

It is this Time  that you can simply waste.

Have you ever observed that after you finish your (college) education and get a job, it is only your personal time that you can waste ?  And that it is the most precious ?  Precious, because it’s only here that you can think about your finances; it’s only here that you can teach your children; it’s only here that you can visit places; it’s only here that you can equip yourself with specialized knowledge for promotion or getting a raise; it’s only here that you can recuperate in the unfortunate event of getting sick;

Have you given it the importance that it deserves ?

If your answer is YES, perhaps you don’t need these lessons.   Otherwise……do this exercise:

Take a sheet of paper (A4 size is appropriate).  On the left margin, write down time slots of  20  minutes each as shown below:

06:00 --06:20        (a.m.)       …………………………………………….
06:20 – 06:40                        …………………………………………….
06:40 – 07:00                        …………………………………………….
08:00--08:20        (p.m.)        …………………………………………….
08:20--08:40                         …………………………………………….
up to bed time                       ……………………………………………

In other words, divide the entire time span of waking hours into slots of 20 minutes each.  For convenience, you may adjust the very first slot to end at  0X:20  a.m.  Supposing  you wake up at 6:10 a.m.  Then, make the first slot to end at 6:20 a.m.  Continue this upto bedtime.

Make 10  to  12 copies of this chart.

Do this now.  I’ll wait.

When you are finished, go to Lesson 6.
